Karen Oosterbaan

Karen Oosterbaan completed her Graduate Diploma in Violin Performance at the Longy School of Music with Distinction. She was a winner of the Honors Competition and received the Victor Rosenbaum award in recognition of academic and artistic excellence. She completed her Master of Music degree, with academic honors, in violin performance at the New England Conservatory of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude, from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. She has studied with Janet Packer, James Buswell IV, Cornelia Heard, and Paul Kantor. She has participated in a wide variety of music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival, New Hampshire Music Festival, and the Cours International de Musique, in Switzerland. Currently, she is an active freelancer in the Boston area. She has played with a variety of orchestras such as Emmanuel Music, Cantata Singers, New Hampshire Symphony, and National Lyric Opera. She is a member of the “Harvey Diamond Jazz Quintet.” She teaches violin and coaches chamber music at Winchester Community Music School. In addition, she is a trained Alexander Technique Teacher who presents various workshops and teaches in her own studio.
